Japan Adventure full cover

Actually this book is one of the Adventure series, one before the Himalayan Adventure.

Soon after I finished Himalayan Adventure book cover design, I started working on Japan Adventure. This cover was a challenging that I’ve never drew helicopter. My poor knowledge of helicopter is a ball with tail and sled on the bottom fly like dragonfly. but then I searched helicopters and find out mechanisms. They are a lot of different types. This book’s stage is in Japan so I looked at Japanese helicopters as well. After couple of days of researching, I decided model helicopter from police site and start drawing. Originally I draw full body but then I can’t see people inside. Oh, that is no good. So I zoomed up how big it should be to see people inside. Then realised I can’t draw helicopter body at all. it is just door and people. Who can see they are in the helicopter with this? So I discard all and started again. Compare to himalayan Adventure, this one had a lot of dilemma before drawing. In the end, I suggested maybe Silver Shinobi (Ninja) already jumped off from the helicopter and the girl looking at him from inside. Well, I think this worked well.

ShinobiI really like this Shinobi and personally attached with him. I draw extra details even can not see it on the picture. lol. I’m so looking forward to read this book when it comes out on the bookstore.

Himalayan Adventure

Currently, I’m working for the Australian author Evan Vaile’s  novel cover design. I recently really enjoy working on book illustrations but also missed some comic work.  But then,  just on right timing, I’ve contacted by author and found the great type of work. I haven’t read this book yet sounds all exciting adventures are waiting. I’ll update more information once it finishes the design and publish. Evan Vaile, the author also making a few series of this book, so I’m so looking forward to read his coming books.

kimono girl 2a

I have made new blog site on Word Press couple of days ago and it took a while to set up. Word Press has got so many choice and much more complicated than Blogger. However, Word Press feels more like website than blog site so it makes satisfied my designer point of view even limited widgets and site colours.

Anyway it took for a while to completed so I was a bit frustrated that I couldn’t draw any illustrations. Last night I made a time for one illustration of this.

I also made with back ground but I didn’t have so much time to draw and I used a Japan photo with Photoshopped. Just in case, I wanted to avoid that people may misunderstood I draw everything, I’ll mention it. I only draw the girl with kimono :) Here is the girl with background.

For the pin up like this, I love realistic painting style ( but of couse I use only Computer ) and try to draw 3D style. I’m still practicing at this point and not as good as I wanted to be. I was looking at some great artist at Deviant Art and also my favourite artwork in Final Fantasy ( They are just so gorgeous!). I would like to get that level one day. I’ve never stop thinking where or who I want to be.

Drawing is fun. :D

kiseki coverHi everyone. I have redesigned my comic site for KISEKI and now it is almost ready to view it on Atomic World Comics. I need to adjust a few more things but perfectly you can read KISEKI much easier than before. Please have a look and let me know you like it or not! I have added the section for Cast and Creators. You can find some characters in KISEKI chapter1 and also the team of KISEKI (actually this part is still on the way). Other illustrations and comic artwork are moved to my work website, inside of portfolio section. This is also I have redesigned so probably easier to follow.

I hope KISEKI is start again on 25th February. I’ll inform you all when it’s ready :)

A little pencil break of KISEKI. Somehow, when I start drawing KISEKI, I suddenly want to draw serious pencil drawing. But this time I didn’t draw sexy girl ^^ (sorry guys!). I drew Kira’s serious version. But with San, it became comedic anyway…

kiseki pinup

I’m nearly end of pencil drawing KISEKI comic Chapter 1 and I’m thinking my comic site looks very messy so I might (again) change the design of comic site. I wish something in my mind is clearly comes up but I’m not coding person and Comic Press is difficult for me to rearrange. I think the problem is that I want to 2 comics in one website. I mean, I can do as it looks now, but it is so disorganised. Maybe I should keep them as ONLY comics. Well, My KISEKI editor Jill Bentley is now working on text same time as I draw so comic is on the way. I should think about the site design meanwhile.

This illustration is only for coffee break and the character at the left is not really existing in my comic… yet. In this concept, Her name is Priscilla, the princess of white moon. When Kira and San travelled to Moon with moon ship, they found the tower on Moon and they lost colours because white dragon snipped all. Only the dragon tangue (the stuff Kira is holding: It is a whip like sword) can catch the white dragon and get the colour back to the moon. Princess Priscilla is a brave girl and beautiful. She might going to be Kira’s first love . Hehe.

“Moon ship and White Moon” story may comes up in the future chapter but it is still in the air. If you like the story, please let me know so I won’t forget about it and will keep the story line in my book.

When I was taking maternity leave, I was drawing for fun like diary. Only once a month or even less whenever if I have time for draw. But then become busy working and completely forgot about them. I was cleaning my old files and found some of the comic strips. These are some funny memories that if I didn’t draw I probably didn’t remember. Children are growing lightning speed and our memories are fades and gone so quickly. It is priceless piece and I wanted to keep with me. Unfortunately it is made with Japanese language and I’m not bother translate these as I use kind of slang and difficult to translate same nuance. But I think you can understand somehow with pictures.

textbook comic style

Illustrations for educational text books. I work for some Australian educational publishers over 11 years and mainly work for Japanese text books for schools. Sometimes they make comic style to make more interesting way to learn languages, math or even science. If I have like this text book, I’m sure I remember a bit more what I learnt. Because I’m Japanese native and working quite a long time in this industry, I do text editing and some part of layout design as well. However, text books are mainly a lot of text (of course) so I do many small illustrations and so make vector illustrations as well for flexible size adjustment.

Of course, some of the text books are black and white and have to be simple lines for photocopy purpose such as teachers books and activity books. I use screen tone (or gray colour on photoshop) to make some depth.

Inside book-1

The Grand Old Man of Marlybone. The Author Harvey Hayward created very interesting story of Marlybone. This old man is like a Indy Jones but a lot older and yet his curiosity never ends… I’ve never draw the character like him and when you read this book, you will feel like in the wonderland that has never issue with time.

This is a picture book but actually the story itself is not just for kids. Cleverly written in verse, this fantastic adventure will captivate and entertain both parents and children alike. The Grand Old Man of Marlybone has been, has seen and has done all these amazing things and more. With his intrepid band of monkey friends, the Grand Old Man of Marlybone travels to places of magic and wonderment aboard his Twelve Wheeled Roto-Bicycle – complete with leaky bath and shower!

It was so thrilled to draw this picture book and as Harvey was self publishing author, I have designed and layout this book and asked to my trustful publisher Zeta Comics to publish the book.

zz-top vol1

Zoey Zeta comic series are the first comic art work I have done in Australia. The Author Robert Simon created the stories for his daughters (as the characters) because he found that there are so many hero comic books for boys but not for girls! He wants to share the big adventures and smashing cool heros with his daughters. I’ve grown up with Japanese comics and animation and enjoyed a lot of Supers and adventure stories myself.

Originally I have agreed with character design but then Robert asked me to create whole comic book. It was so much fun making this book and it brought me back what I was passioned about. For me, this book gave me the turning point for my life and means a lot.

It has got the great review by Snow WildsmithGraphic Novel Reporter.

Since then, Robert become a publisher, made his own Zeta Comics and publishing great books and comics.
